Some necessary terms in textile processing & production are given below-
FIBRE:
Textile raw materials generally characterized by fineness, flexibility&higher ratio of length to thickness.
YARN:
A product of substantial length & relatively small cross section consisting of fiber(s) and/or filament(s) with or without twist.
FABRIC:
A manufactured assembly of fibers and/or yarns that has substantial surface area in relation to its thickness& sufficient cohesion to give the assembly useful mechanical strength. Common processes of fabricmanufacturing are weaving, knitting & non woven.
· Weaving: The action of producing fabric by interlacing of warp & weft threads.
· Knitting: The process of manufacturing of fabric by the intermeshing of loops of yarn.
· Non-woven: The process of producing of fabrics by chemical bonding of fibers.
