Method Study :
Process/Method analysis is the logical recording and substantive examination of ways of doing things to improve.
Method analysis can also be defined as "the systematic recording and critical examination of existing and proposed ways of working as a means of developing and implementing simpler and more effective methods and thereby reducing costs" (Kanawati, 1992).
In this field, the pioneering work of Frank B. Gilbreth and his wife, Lillian M. Gilbreth, completed around 1910 called Motion Studies. Frank Gilbreth, the true founder of motion study as a science, defined motion study as "the science of eliminating waste resulting from improperly directed and efficient motion." The goal of motion study is to find the scheme with the least wastage of labor.
"Method Study" is the careful writing of how a task is done, examining how it is done, and trying to find better or easier ways of doing the task.
Objectives of Method Analysis:
1. To train individual workers in practice according to standard procedures.
2. To standardize the method obtained after conducting speed studies.
3. To reduce work fatigue and boredom by avoiding unnecessary movements.
4. Improving the design of workplace layout.
5. Making more efficient use of materials, machines and manpower.
6. To find the best way to do a job.
7. Eliminate wastage of time and labor.
