Applications of Staple-Spun Yarns :
Figure 1 shows the range of counts for various end-uses of staple-fiber spun yarn. Apart from the ultrafine yarn count range of 2–7.5 tex for hosiery, staple-fiber yarns have a roughly similar market area, with fine to medium yarn counts of 7.5–40 tex mainly used to make textiles for clothing and apparel. Spun staple yarns hold a major position in the market for items such as shirts, blouses, home textiles, bed sheets, trousers and suits (Lord, 2003).
